We have developed silane modified novel optical adhesives and adapted them to PMF pig-tail ferrule connectors, SMF optical connectors, and metal doped optical attenuators. Polarization extinction ratio was improved from 29.2dB to 38.5dB and polarization dependent loss (PDL) was all less than 0.02dB by assembly of devices with the novel adhesives. After environmental tests of GR326, PDL changes were small and always less than 0.02dB. After 60 degC-85% high temperature-high humidity test, MTF for 353ND was 639hr and on the other hand, silane modified novel optical adhesives did not deteriorate at all after 4000 hrs and are expected to indicate longer life time at 60 degC. |
