This paper discuss and suggest how knowledge on algorithm design theory and computational complexity theory help to model real-world problems appropriately using scheduling in railroad, AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle) as examples. When we formalize real world problems knowledge on algorithm design theory and computational complexity theory as well as deep knowledge and insight on the system. We tend to pay too much attention on the detail of the system when we formalize a system, which makes the formalized problem prohibitively large and complicated to be solved. If we have sufficient knowdge on algorithm design theory and computational complexity theory, we can judge how to formalize the problem so that it is efficiently solvable. Then, deep understanding of the system to be formalized enables us to judge which part can not be omitted as it is important. We introduce scheduling in railroad, AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle) and NPB League as working examples. |
