Importance of medical data utilization is increasing under the influence of digitalization of medical treatment. Electronic medical data include structured digital data and unstructured text data. The long term goal of our research is to improve medical-examination process. The present paper analyzes the words that appear in operation records to predict the postoperative length of stay. We applied SVM (support vector machine) and FS (feature selection) to predict the length of stay is longer than the standard length 25 days. Three measures of words were proposed to select feature words. According to the two measures, the optimal prediction performance was obtained by less than 10 words. The effect of medical dictionary was confirmed as well. |
