With the rapid growth of the wireless LAN (WLAN) terminals complying with IEEE802.11 Standard like smartphones, a congested situation that many WLAN terminals are gathered arises. Hereafter, we refer to a congested situation with many WLAN STAs as a wireless dense environment. All STAs suffer from degradation in communication quality. This is because the number of collisions of frames increases in proportional to the number of STAs in Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) mechanism. Moreover, CSMA/CA is designed such that the transmission from any one station does not have priority over any other. If the terminal with IEEE802.11g STA and the STA that have low-speed transmission like IEEE802.11b are mixed, this design makes it difficult to optimize transmission period. In order to solve this problem, we have proposed a clustering method for WLAN terminals according to difference of standard, transmission speed, and the number of terminals. The proposed method suppresses collisions between terminals, improves the throughput performances in the situation described above. In this report, operation of the proposal system was imitated using AP (Access Point) of IEEE802.11b/g standard conformity, and property evaluation in actual environment was performed. Moreover, experimental evaluation in mobile terminal environment nearer to actual was performed, and the validity of the proposal system was checked. |
