The movement of network functions virtualization has been accelerated for the flexible addition of network function and the cost reduction . In order to enable the network functions virtualization, the service chaining technology to transfer the user packets to the appropriate functions in a suitable order is needed. In the concept of network functions virtualization, the functions are separated from dedicated equipment and implemented on the general-purpose server. In this paper, we discuss the requirements and issues of the service chaining for the carrier network and analyze the packet forwarding methods, the route control methods, and the inter-datacenter service chaining methods. |
