[Tutorial Lecture] The State of the Art of Super-High Bit-rate Mobile Radio Communications

(in English) The mobile radio communication systems had been inaugurated from analog ones, and about ten years later they employed the digital technologies, which tremendously increased the number of accommodated users and led the systems to a large scale. The development of radio transmission technologies during this evolution can be characterized by the rapid increase of transmission bitrate. This tutorial first shows several technical trends closely related to the radio transmission evolution, and reviews recent 10 Gbps field experiments. Specifications of the 8x16 MIMO-OFDM experimental system and the field experimental results are shown. Feasibility of 30 Gbps transmission of 24x24 MIMO-OFDM system is then examined by computer simulation utilizing the measured channel state information in the field experiments. Finally, hardware technical subjects that should be improved are shown.
