A Study on Frame Synchronization Scheme of Optical MPPM-CNK

(in English) The MPPM-CNK system using the generalized modified prime sequence code (GMPSC), which combines the code number keying (CNK) with the multi-pulse pulse position modulation (MPPM), has been proposed. In this paper, novel frame synchronization systems of the MPPM-CNK system are proposed. The basic idea of the proposed system is to assign the CNK signal to the slots of MPPM signal. The symbol error rate performances are evaluated by theoretical analysis. Consequently, in the complete synchronization state, the proposed system is inferior to the conventional system because the energy of demodulating the MPPM data decreases. When 1 chip synchronization error occurs, decrease in the performance of the proposed system is very small. Moreover, the symbol error rate of the proposed system is significantly better than that of the conventional system.
