A Consideration of Location Estimation of Coherent Near-field Sources by Combined Use of DOA-Matrix Method and SAGE Algorithm

(in English) It is important to understand the radio wave propagation structures in mobile or indoor wireless communications. One of useful methods for the purpose is high-resolution DOA estimation using an array antenna. Furthermore, for the near field sources, different signal models are required since the incident wave fronts are spherical. This paper deals with the near field DOA-Matrix method for source localization using an array antenna. This method is an ESPRIT-like method obtaining directly the DOA estimates. To apply this method for the estimation of the coherent sources, the spatial smoothing is incorporated into this method. The computer simulation along with SAGE algorithm using appropriate initial values demonstrates that the proposed method attains higher estimation accuracy of coherent source locations.
