Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Proximity Service (ProSe), which enables user equipment (UE) to discover other UEs in proximity and to communicate directly without passing core network, is being standardized as an important factor of LTE-Advanced in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). On the other hand, Device to Device (D2D) communication is seen as one of the key technologies in the 5th generation (5G) radio communication technology which is globally investigated to be deployed by 2020. In this paper, we introduce the current standardization of ProSe in 3GPP followed by our future view of D2D communication.
