Recently, we proposed end-reflection assisted Brillouin analysis to aim for monitoring branched fiber loss distribution in passive optical networks. In this paper, our proposed method is applied to branched fiber sensing, because Brillouin analysis can be detected temperature and strain. For the sensing, we employed multi-probe pulse arrangement to improve the system dynamic range compared with a previously reported approach that uses a single pair of pump and probe pulses. This technique is promising in parallel fiber sensing that enhances the system reliability, robustness, and sensor topology flexibility. |
