Numerical and Experimental Evaluation of Localization Methods in a UWB MIMO Radar

(in English) For realizing high accuracy localization in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radars, it is necessary to optimize antenna arrangement and estimation scheme. This paper proposes a target localization scheme using a bistatic configuration of an ultra wideband (UWB) MIMO radar. The radar utilized a MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm to estimate time of arrival (TOA), direction of departure (DOD), and direction of arrival (DOA) at each frequency of the UWB signal and combines them using a majority decision. The estimation accuracy depends on the localization methods—TOA/DOA-based and DOD/DOA-based—and the target distance relative to the length of baseline. This paper presents the simulation and experimental results of the proposed scheme.
