In this paper, a spectrum management algorithm using weighted state transition is proposed for use of TV white space (TVWS) which is temporally and geographically vacant channels in TV broadcast band. Spectrum management is an important element of cognitive radio for operation over TVWS without interference to the incumbent TV broadcast and other licensed wireless communication systems. To decide the channel in operation based on the information of channel use from database and spectrum sensing results, a modified algorithm based on the spectrum management in the IEEE 802.22 and the IEEE 802.11af/802.15.4m is proposed. Impact of miss detection and false alarm probabilities to the performance are evaluated for the secure reservation of operating channel and for avoiding harmful interference to licensed wireless systems by computer simulation. |
