This research is about studying the energy usage of internet applications in a mobile device on 3G(UMTS) and 4G(LTE) networks. To measure energy consumption of each application, Battery Doctor application is installed and running while mobile device is connected to UMTS or LTE network. Also, the location tags and mobility pattern of device are collected from start-to-end usage time. The most popular mobile applications, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc., are all investigated by regular usage on both networks. Finally, the power usage data of all applications on both networks will be presented and provided as the guideline for optimal battery power. |
