Death by lung cancer is one fifth of deaths by cancer. Recently, CT screening of lung is developed for early detection of lung cancer. The loss of lung parenchyma associated with emphysema represents low attenuation volume (LAV) in CT images. CT images of lung cancer have shown effectively in detection of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD). Consequently, early detection of COPD by CT images of lung cancer is expected. Reduction of deaths by smoking cessation is important. In this study, we extracted LAV through CT images of lung cancer. The annual changes of LAV by smoking status are measured as well. |
