In recent years, discussion, research, and development on the 5th generation mobile and wireless communication systems have been active in industry, government, and academia. 5G networks are requested to tolerate traffic explosion, increasing numbers of devices, and heterogeneous applications which are mainly caused by proliferation of IoT and M2M technologies. The current mobile network architecture which offers uniform services such as mobility management by centralized control cannot satisfy the emerging requirements. To tackle the problem, we propose a novel architecture of autonomous and distributed mobility management. In this paper, we propose an adaptive mobility management scheme which selects a location of management entity in accordance with mobility of user equipment and node status. We adopt a biologically-inspired adaptation algorithm, called attractor selection, to accomplish adaptive selection taking into account multiple performance measures. We compare the proposal to the current system under a variety of mobility scenarios and verify its effectiveness. |
