Quantitative Evaluation of Productivity Improvement by Supervisor Patrolling Using "Business Microscope"

(in English) One of the improvement measures is a supervisor patrolling in the shop floor. However, there have been no previous cases in which an investigation about quantitative evaluation of productivity improvement by supervisor patrolling. In this research, the effect of supervisor patrolling measure was quantified using the wearable sensor. Supervisors and workers wore a business microscope, and performed the duties in the everyday task. The behavior of them in the inspection/packing work was investigated in warehouse. A productivity index is ratio of the number of handling goods per second. As a result, difference of productivity before and after supervisor patrolling event was confirmed, and the productivity improvement rate was 10.0%. Moreover, the productivity improvement duration for 50 minutes was confirmed, and the productivity improvement rate of the whole work was 10.4%.
