Thermal analysis is significant to the design of circuit breaker. The contact resistance between moving contact and fixed contact is one of the main heat sources in circuit breaker. It is critical to determine the contact resistance and set up its reasonable model for thermal analysis. In this paper, experiments have been carried out to get the influence of stress and temperature on contact resistance. The change rule of contact resistance with contact pressure and temperature are obtained. Based on the results, steady-state thermal analysis of the molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is performed. Compared with the existing thermal simulation results, it shows that the thermal analysis considering the change rules of contact resistance is much closer to the experiment. |
