Three radiation models, the NEC, semi-empirical based on NEC as well as P1 model, are used to compute the radiation transport in the fault arc in the closed air tank. The pressure rises calculated by the three models are compared with the experimental result of M. Iwata (2008 Proc. 17th Int. Conf. Gas Discharges and their Applications pp 189-192). In particular, the effect of different starting temperatures of re-absorption layer in the semi-empirical model on the pressure rise is focused on. It has been found that the re-absorption effect in the low-temperature region influences the energy transport of fault arcs seriously, and hence the internal pressure rise. In comparison to NEC model, P1 and the semi-empirical model with 0.7< <0.83 are more applicable to the pressure calculation of fault arc, where is an adjusted parameter about the starting temperature of the re-absorption layer in the semi-empirical model. |
