Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation methods using a cyclic correlation based on the cyclostationarity of digital-modulation signals have characteristics that they can estimate DOAs of the desired signals selectively in radio environments where interferences are simultaneously incident on the array antenna.
Although DOA estimation method using the cyclic correlation normally utilizes a single cyclic correlation of the desired signal, we propose herein a method using in-phase combining of multiple cyclic correlations to improve the conventional method.
When we have only one desired signal, the proposed method can be expected to have improved performance.
In the multipath environments of the desired signal, however, we have to carry out the in-phase combining for individual multipath signals.
Therefore, we incorporate the SAGE algorithm into the method, and we demonstrate that the further improved method has high estimation accuracy even in the multipath environments. |
