This paper describes a development of upper limb motion support system for gait rehabilitation. This system consists of a treadmill and two sets of XY Stage, which are set to each side of the treadmill. The end effector of the XY Stage can move back and forth and up and down. The end effector equips with a handle to grasp when a patient walks on the treadmill. Since each handle moves along to the pre-recoded trajectory of the hands of a healthy individual, he/she can learn the upper limb motion in walking. The results of an experiment to investigate the effectiveness of the system on rehabilitation suggest that this system is invaluable for gait rehabilitation of hemiplegia. |
