[Poster Presentation] A study on location estimation method using distance estimation based on received power distribution

(in English) Recently, the concern with services by using the location information has been growing along with the popularization of the mobile phone.
One of the position estimation methods estimates the location to minimize the distance between the estimated location and the position of the access point based on the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of the wireless systems.
However, this method causes location estimation error when the estimate of the distance includes error.
On the other hand, there are some models of the variation of the RSSI.
It is well-known that the RSSI varies based on exponential distribution in the indoor environments.
In this paper, we propose a new distance estimation method based on the distribution of the RSSI in order to reduce the distance estimation error and evaluate the location estimation methods by using the proposed distance estimation method.
We show some numerical results by computer simulation and the proposed method outperforms the conventional one.
