Performance Evaluation of a Load Balancing Routing Protocol Considering Electricity Remaining Quantity in Wireless Mesh Networks
Yusuke Nakamura, Akio Koyama (Yamagata Univ.) RCS2014-244
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) provide wide range Wireless LAN (WLAN) service by performing wireless connection of Access Points (APs) of the WLAN mutually. For the influence of processing ability of AP or wireless environment, routing protocols which determine a route are very important. In particular, concentration of network load is the problem to be solved because it deteriorates network performance. Furthermore, because APs driven with battery appear, Routing considering electricity remaining quantity is required in WMNs. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol which achieves equalization of electricity remaining quantity of APs and load balancing. Besides, we also propose EED as a routing metric which considers network load. In the simulation results, we showed that the network performance and ability to equalize electricity remaining quantity of APs are improved by using a proposed protocol than a conventional protocol.
