Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) B-type carbonated apatite (BCA: [Ca10-xNa2x/3][(PO4)6-x(CO3)x][(H2O)x(OH)2-x/3]) with certain contents of CO32- ions shows relatively high oxide ion conductivity of 10-3 Scm-1 at 800℃ and our recent study revealed that the conductivity is improved by the partial substitution of OH- ions by F- ions. Hence in this study, to evaluate the role of carbonate and fluoride ions in the conductivity, the contents of carbonate and fluoride ion in BCA were tried to be varied and the ionic conductivity of the resulted ceramics was compared in terms of the composition. XRD, FT-IR and F- ion concentration measurements indicated the successful preparation of the two kinds of BCA powders with different carbonate content (x⋍1.9 for BCA(2) and x⋍2.6 for BCA(15)), and their F- doped ceramics with the same fluoride ion content (⋍2 wt%) and the different carbonate content of x⋍0.6 (FCA(2)) and x⋍1.5 (FCA(15)). According to the results of impedance measurements, the conductivity of BCA was proved to be efficiently improved by the F--ion doping whereas the increased carbonate content in BCA had less contributions in conductivity of BCA. Furthermore, the activation energy for the ionic conductivity of FCA(2) was much higher than that of FCA(15), indicating the strong contribution of carbonate content to the activation energy of FCA.
