In a combination of broadband single-carrier (SC) block transmission with transmit equalization (TE) and multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), frequency diversity gain can be obtained while a base station (BS) communicates simultaneously with multiple users using the same frequency. TE is considered as removing both inter-symbol interference (ISI) caused by the frequency-selective fading and amplitude variation in received signals, and consequently, increases signal power significantly. Recently, we proposed SC-MU-MIMO with time-domain TE and Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (TD-SC-TETHP), where TD-THP removes ISI as well as inter-user interference (IUI), and then the amplitude variation is removed. Modulo operation in TD-SC-TETHP can suppress the signal power increase caused by ISI removal. Performing only the amplitude variation removal after THP can avoid increasing the signal power significantly. As a result, the received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) improves. However, modulo operation takes into account the power increase caused by the former signal processings, and thereby is not the optimal scheme for signal power suppression. Modulo operation shifts the desired signal after the interference subtraction near the original constellation by adding a auxiliary signal vector. The vector can be regarded as a kind of perturbation vector in vector perturbation (VP). It is expected that finding and adding the optimal perturbation vector in TD-SC-TETHP suppress the signal power increase more and improve the received SNR. In this paper, we propose TD-SC-TETHP applying M algorithm based perturbation vector search. An ordering is performed to improve the accuracy of M algorithm based perturbation vector search. We show, by computer simulation, the proposed TD-SC-TETHP provides better average bit error rate (BER) performance than conventional TD-SC-TETHP and VP applying QR decomposition and M algorithm based perturbation vector search for SC-MU-MIMO (SC-VP). Computational complexity of the proposed TD-SC-TETHP is compared to those of the conventional TD-SC-TETHP and SC-VP. |
