This paper presented the experimental investigation on the self-injection locked NRD guide Gunn oscillator loading the metal rod resonator supported by the PEEK (Polyether-ether-ketone) material which has high-mechanical strength and easily fabrication at 60 GHz. First, the metal rod resonator supported by the PEEK material, where the third-order resonance TEM wave guided, was fabricated, and the unloaded Q-factor of the fabricated metal rod resonator were estimated using the excitation of the NRD guides at 60 GHz, and the measured unloaded Q-factor of 1500 was obtained. Next, the oscillation characteristics on the reflection and band-stop type of self-injection locked NRD guide Gunn oscillators loading the fabricated metal rod resonator were measured. The SSB (Single-sideband) phase noise of -107 dBc/Hz was obtained at 100 kHz offset frequency. According to the experimental results, the usefulness of the self-injection locked NRD guide Gunn oscillator loading the metal rod resonator supported by the PEEK material was validated. |
