A Study of Element Management System Architecture for Virtualized Carrier Networks

(in English) For large scale carrier network, atomization of operation using Operation Support System (OpS) is inevitable. An Element Management System (EMS) is an OpS that directly connects to NE (Network Equipment) for controlling, monitoring, and gathering data. Large scale carrier operates wide variety of NE, and since their operation sequence is not standardized, carrier’s OpS have to support wide variety of NE to enable flow-through operation and to reduce OPEX (Operation Expense). Reducing CAPEX (Capital Expense) is necessary in this case, and is achievable by designing EMS platform and reusing common functions of EMS. Reusing EMS function is difficult when carrier’s operation requirement differs. This proposal is EMS architecture to adopt wide variety of operation requirement.
