Design of a Filtering Antenna Based on Parameter-Extraction Method Using Input Reflection Responses

(in English) The filtering antenna is basically composed of an N-th order bandpass filter obtained by replacing N-th resonator with an antenna. In the design of filtering antenna, external Q factor, coupling coefficients, and radiation Q factor need to be evaluated. However, a conventional design method for bandpass filters cannot extract a coupling coefficient between the N-th resonator and the antenna, and the radiation Q factor of the antenna. In this paper, we propose a parameter-extraction method using input reflection responses to extract both the coupling coefficient and the radiation Q factor of the antenna. For this method, we analytically derive two equations from an equivalent circuit model of filtering antennas in order to express the coupling coefficient and the radiation Q factor. As an example, a fifth-order filtering antenna is synthesized and designed, which numerically validates the effectiveness of the proposed design method for filtering antennas.
