This paper presents initial cell search time performance using precoding vector switching (PVS) transmit diversity for heterogeneous networks with the same frequency spectrum. We apply PVS transmit diversity to primary synchronization signal (PSS) and secondary synchronization signal (SSS) which are based on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio interface. System-level simulation results show that PVS transmit diversity is effective in decreasing the initial cell search time for a set of user equipment with two-antenna receiver diversity for heterogeneous networks including outdoor small cells with the same frequency spectrum. |
