In-vehicle networks are required to enhance bit rate because the electronic control unit (ECU) with controller area network (CAN) are becoming high quality. CAN with flexible data-rate (CAN FD) has been proposed to enhance the bit rate of widely-employed CAN. However, the pulse of CAN FD in the data phase is shortened so that it suffers from the ringing originated from the bus topology. As a result, the sending node may detect the inconsistency between its output voltage and bus voltage so that it would stop the data frame transmission. In this manuscript, ringing reduced CAN FD (RR-CAN FD) is proposed for CAN FD to mitigate the ringing effect. The received waveforms of the conventional CAN FD and RR-CAN FD are analyzed for bus networks complied with a CAN standard by computer simulations. The results show that the proposed RR-CAN FD achieves several times higher data rate than the conventional CAN FD. |
