Tolerance to Nonlinearity Effects of 100Gbit/s Dual-Carrier DP-BPSK over Long Haul Transmission

(in English) We experimentally investigated the transmission performance of 100 Gbit/s dual-carrier DP-BPSK signals transmitted on a 3,080 km in-line chromatic dispersion compensated fiber link with real-time digital signal processing. A dual-carrier DP-BPSK signal can have about 2 dB higher optical power than a single-carrier DP-QPSK signal. We analyze the constellation of BPSK and QPSK after highly nonlinear long-haul transmission. It is confirmed that amplitude noise can be suppressed allowing larger nonlinear phase noise in BPSK because of more phase margin compared with QPSK. This enables BPSK to outperform QPSK in long-haul transmission accompanying with large nonlinear phase noise.
