Simulation of Falling Rocks Using 3D Models Reconstructed from Multiple-View Images

(in English) This paper proposes a method to simulate falling motion of rocks using physics engine and 3D models reconstructed from multiple-view images. The shape of rocks is important to estimate the way of leap and route of falling motion in 3D simulation. However, in most currently researches, although the 3D surrounding model of slope is well accurately scanned using a laser scanner, it is not sufficient to estimate the complex behavior of falling rocks due to modeling the rocks in the simple shape such as sphere or cube. Our proposed method generates 3D models in more accurate shape by using Image-based Modeling technique. In order to merge two types of 3D models (slope and rocks), we develop a method to get the correspondence between the models by using rendering images of 3D rock model and multiple-view images of surroundings environment (slope). Falling motion of rocks can be realized by applying physics engine to the 3D models.
