A Frame Collision Reduction Method to Achieve Transmission Time Fairness in Wireless LANs -- A Consideration of Effectiveness Under Unsaturated Traffic --

(in English) In wireless LANs, the distributed coordination function (DCF) is used as a standard access method to avoid frame collisions due to simultaneous accesses.
In DCF, each station sets random backoff time to avoid frame collisions in DCF.
However that mechanism does not completely avoid frame collisions, and causes throughput degradation due to set redundant wait time by setting backoff time at random.
Furthermore high rate station's throughput is affected by low rate stations because the DCF provides the same access right to each station regarlress the station's transmission rate.
To solve two problems, we have proposed an access method to reduce frame collisions and to achieve airtime fairness between all stations,
and shown effectiveness under coexisting of DCF stations.
However we have assumed saturated traffic,
this paper shows that the proposed method is effective under unsaturated traffic.
