Effectiveness of User's Evaluation to Quality Improvement of VoIP Service

(in English) With advancement of IP-based information and communication technologies, VoIP services have been used explosively. In a deteriorated network environment, however, these VoIP services often suffer from the voice intermittence and transmission delay, and thus various solutions to these issues have been proposed. This study proposes a technique which improves the quality of VoIP services based on the probabilistic distribution of packet discarding. By discarding VoIP packets based on the distribution of conversation blank time, the user evaluation to the service can be improved even though the packet loss rate increases and/or the network delay is additionally considered. In this paper, the effectiveness of the proposed method will be discussed in terms of subjective evaluation based on the results obtained from the experiments with several evaluation systems.
