An Application of RRT Algorithm to Reliability Assessment of Energy Systems

(in English) Assessment of reliability related to dynamics of energy systems is formulated as a problem of checking reachability of a mathematical model representing their dynamic performances affected by external inputs. For such as power system transient dynamics, it is computationally difficult to solve the problem in cases of nonlinear systems with continuous-valued states, to which we refer as (un-)decidability. A new idea of the solution applicable to dynamic reliability assessment of large-scale, complex energy systems is thus required. In this report we propose to use the so-called RRT (Rapidly-exploring Random Tree) algorithm and discuss its possibility by applying it to a simple example.
