We designed and fabricated high power airborne ultrasonic transducers for one-dimensional phased array system. The transducer has higher-mode bending vibration, where a phase-compensating stepped structure was employed to obtain high vibration amplitude over a wide aperture. The element transducer showed the radiation characteristics with the full width at half maximum of 14.3 degrees, the sidelobe level of 0.78, and the sound pressure of 132 dB (0 dB re. 0.02 mPa), respectively. We also measured the beam steering characteristics as a phased array transducer using four of the developed elements. |
