(in English) Recently, the use of multimedia resources has spread, extensively.
Especially, MPEG video has been used in the various situations.
Various encoding processes to compress the data size are applied to the MPEG video data.
Therefore, in order to execute video processing for the MPEG video data, decoding processes are generally needed as the preprocessing.
This paper proposes a method for contour extraction of moving objects in the MPEG video data.
In the proposed method, full-decoding processes are not necessary, by using the feature quantities encoded in the MPEG video data.
Since the proposed method uses the minimal decoding processes for the MPEG video data, high-speed contour extraction for moving objects can be realized.
