In the Great East Japan Earthquake, safety confirmations were so hard because many areas where disconnection of communication networks occurred (isolated areas). For quick recovery of safety communications in isolated areas, we are developing message storage and transporting system using unmanned aircraft (UA) for disaster areas. In such system, the UA has function to pick up the messages (ex. e-mail) in isolated areas and return them to non-isolated areas. Therefore, this system has the merit to establish the communications quickly without influence of damage on the ground. For such system, it is not easy to ensure stable communications because propagation path status between UA and ground equipment changes drastically. Hence, we consider multi-link communication so as to suppress the quality degradation of safety communication. Herein, we show propagation characteristics for multi-link communication between UA and ground equipment. Specifically, we measured radio propagation for two links used in Wi-Fi system (i.e. 2.4 GHz and 5.6 GHz) at the same time. In the measurements, UA equipped with the receiver just receives the Wi-Fi frames transmitted between Wi-Fi devices deployed on the ground. It is considered from the field test that simultaneous degradation are not observed. Therefore, it is concluded that we will obtain the possibility of performance improvement by means of multi-link scheme. |
