A Method of Determining Emergency Warning Signals with Various Transmission Modes for ISDB-T Terrestrial Digital Television Receivers
Satoshi Takahashi (Hiroshima City Univ.) CAS2014-121 CS2014-93
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Emergency warning broadcasting wakes up television receivers by a special control signal sent from the broadcaster when in emergency such as earthquake or tsunami disaster, and such emergency wake-up is already available in some countries. The wake-up signal of ISDB-T digital television broadcasting standard is on the control signal, and various methods have been proposed to detect the emergency wake-up trigger. The control signal has mainly used for advising the receivers of the transmission mode such as the modulation and the coding rate. A method of detecting the emergency warning broadcasting with the parity on the control signal has been proposed and it assumes the normal transmission mode. But all broadcasters would not use the assumed transmission mode. In this paper, a method of initially using the parity for correcting the transmission mode detection error and using the parity for detecting the emergency wake-up signal when in idle is proposed.
