The purpose of this study is to develop a 3D surgical planning system for stem with haptic force guidance. The haptic force feedback and visualization of safety/danger state of stem are performed based on the amount of protrusion from the boundaries of the cortical bone. In the experiments, we compared the position and operation-time differences between a mouse, a haptic device with the previously proposed method, and a haptic device with the proposed method. The average positional difference of the proposed method became the minimum, and the operation time of both of the haptic devices was less than that of the mouse. These results showed the usefulness of our method. |
