In this paper, we propose an improved consensus transmit power control (CTPC) algorithm to maximizing end- to-end throughput in dense multihop wireless networks (DMWNs) with the RSSI interference model. In MWNs, a key factor of influencing the network capacity performance is the effect of interference power, in which the interference power of a node is obtained from the other nodes that are located outside the transmission range of the node. Minimizing the total interference power can improve the overall network capacity and also can reduce the total energy consumption. In DMWNs, under the normal RSSI threshold setting, the TPC algorithms cannot achieve good performance because all the nodes is within the transmission range. When the spatial reuse is considered, the end-to-end throughput decreases more sharply. The improved CTPC algorithm tunes the nodes’ transmit powers to maximize the average end-to-end throughput by changing the RSSI threshold setting. Simulation results reveal that the CTPC algorithm enables all traffic flows to accomplish the maximum average end-to-end throughput and at the same time the total interference power and the total power consumption are decreasing. |
