A Study of Routing Algorithm Based on Quality Prediction for Millimeter-Wave Wireless Links

(in English) Mobile operators usually use wired links as backhauls which connect base stations (BSs) and core networks (CNs). However, it is difficult to deploy many base stations in urban environment flexibly and rapidly with wired backhauls only. Millimeter-wave (mmW) wireless backhaul has been researched for solving this problem. Since mmW is attenuated by severe rainstorm and degrades communication quality, namely, rain attenuation, several paths between BSs and SNs are required such as mesh networks. This report proposes a routing algorithm for mmW wireless mesh networks based on quality prediction of each wireless link. The algorithm chooses the most available path autonomously. The report also proposes a method for avoiding fluctuation of traffic allocation to each path. Computer simulations clarify that the proposed algorithm increase the throughput by 21% in the rainstorm, and the proposed method increase the whole throughput by more 4s%.
