Sampling Synchronization Using Radio Broadcast Signals for Distributed Microphone Arrays

(in English) This paper proposes a new sampling synchronization method based on radio broadcast signals for distributed microphone arrays using independent sound acquisition devices. Radio broadcast signals can be received even in buildings and they propagate at light speed, which is far faster than sound propagation speed. Interpolation filter based on the sampling offset estimated by the radio signals achieves sufficient synchronization for distributed microphone arrays. Simulations show that the proposed method can synchronize signals with 10% sampling frequency offset, and obtains a signal-to-error ratio of 30 dB.
