| (in English) | This paper proposes a content-aware image compression method for low bit-rate image coding using an iterative upsampling method at the decoder and a upsampling-dependent downsampling approach at the encoder. Original images are shrunken to smaller size in a content-aware fashion before compression. After decoding, they are interpolated back to their original size by iterative edge-directed interpolation. Moreover, we design an interpolation-dependent downsampling matrix by using an iterative updating method. In experimental results, the proposed method presents better results in edge regions while the computation time is reduced compared to other existing upscaling-based image compression methods. | |
