The study of the evolution of cooperation due to the introduction of peer-punishment depending on the difference of payoffs

(in English) There are two types of punishment, i.e. peer-punishment that a player punishes an uncooperative player by paying certain costs, and pool-punishment, which retains resources to punish free-riders. Especially, peer-punishment is considered to have flaws that it lowers the average payoff and facilitates antisocial behavior like retaliation. Here, this study proposes a new notion of peer-punishment that the punishment on an opponent player works at high probability when an opponent one is uncooperative and the difference of payoffs between a player and an opponent one is large. By introducing this new peer-punishment, the author shows how the number of cooperative players and the average payoff of players change when the spatial relationship between players becomes various types.
