UE-DA Dynamic Grouping for Distributed Antenna Network with MU-MIMO Transmission

(in English) Distributed antenna network (DAN), where a number of antennas are spatially distributed within wireless cells (macro cells), can simultaneously reduce the impact of propagation loss, shadowing loss, and multipath fading. A combination of DAN and multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission can achieve high system throughput. However, large co-channel interference (CCI) occurs between nearby user equipments (UEs) across cell boundary and the transmission performance degrades significantly, when DAs only within the same macro cell cooperate. If the large CCI between UEs can be regarded as inter-user interference (IUI) and suppressed by MIMO signal processing, the degradation of the transmission performance is avoided. In this paper, we propose UE-DA dynamic grouping, where UEs interfering strongly with each other and the neighboring DAs are grouped over the cell boundary. It is shown that our proposed UE-DA dynamic grouping improves throughput performances of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-MU-MIMO downlink transmission and single-carrier (SC)-MU-MIMO uplink transmission.
