Influence of Opening Velocity on Various Characteristics in Break Arc

(in English) Recently, the demand to interrupt the DC high voltage and the large-current by electric contact has increased. Experimental apparatus that is able to set opening velocity at wide-range of 1-200mm/s with an equal speed was used. The experiments that had set the closed contact current to 10A under the DC200, 300, 500V was carried out with this apparatus. The arc voltage and current waveforms of the arc breaking were observed. The arc voltage and current waveforms at the Ag contacts breaking were observed. As a result, it can be made clear that the arc duration and the arc energy become short and small respectively in inverse proportion to opening velocity.
