Substantiative Exeriment of Accuracy Rate Improvement in Yes/No Comminication Aid for ALS Patients -- Totally Integrated Prototype and Its Validation by Experiment --

(in English) An Yes/No communication aid for ALS(Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) patients with no body movements uses cerebral blood volume changes measured with near-infrared light. Research on its improvement such as probes, Yes/No judgment programs and analysis period of blood volume changes has been integrated into a prototype. A substantiative experiment for 3 ALS patients has shown that average accuracy rate in the first day reached more than 80% by optimizing combinations of tasks, biosignal variables and analysis period of the signals. The optimization is evaluated by weighted average of separation rate of model data and accuracy rate of test data. Keeping this high accuracy rate is under experiment.
