Efficient ionization of droplets using needle electrode and its application for organic light-emitting diode Takeshi Fukuda, Arata Sato (Saitama Univ.) OME2014-88 |

Since organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been required for displays and general lightings, many types of solution processes have been investigated. Nowadays, our group investigated the ultrasonic deposition method; however, a serious problem is the slow deposition rate and the low utilize efficiency of raw organic materials due to the inefficient ionization of droplets. In this research, we achieved the improved deposition rate using the needle electrode. The deposition rate became 2-3 fold, and the smooth surface was demonstrated by comparing to the mesh electrode. Finally, multilayer OLED was achieved, and the highest luminance of 12,200 cd/m2 and the maximum current efficiency of 6.64 cd/A were achieved. |
