Effect of the presentation of three-dimensional object using the Augmented Reality technology on the performance of spatial cognitive task

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This study investigated the effect of Augmented Reality (AR) on the mental image operation by conducting the spatial cognitive task with the AR system. Participants were asked to judge whether a 3D object could be combined with another 3D object in display and AR conditions. The results showed that the reaction time in AR conditions was faster than that in the display condition for some objects combinations. Therefore, the effectiveness of using the AR on the spatial cognitive task was partially confirmed.
