In fifth generation mobile communication systems (5G), enhancement of areal capacity by increasing cell density is expected. However, areal capacity does not increase linearly with increasing cell density due to high inter-cell interference. In this paper, we focus on beamforming and coordinated multi-point transmission (CoMP) as interference mitigation techniques and investigate areal throughput according to cell density via system level simulation. We confirm that areal throughput can linearly increase along with cell density with coordinated beamforming (CB). In addition, we show preliminary results in indoor experiments to verify the effect of beamforming and CB. |
